Alicia Silverstone to return in new ‘Clueless’ sequel series

More than 30 years after ‘Clueless’ first introduced fans to the iconic Cher Horowitz, Alicia Silverstone is set to reprise her role in a new sequel series for Paramount+.

A ‘Clueless’ sequel series was first announced in 2025, with its development originally ordered by Peacock. But earlier this year, it was reported that the network would no longer be moving forward with the project.

On the bright side, though, the six-episode sequel series has found its way to its original home, describing the production as “a homecoming for one of its most beloved franchises.”

The ‘Clueless’ sequel series will take place three decades after the original 1995 cult classic, following Cher as a successful businesswoman and mother who finds out that “parenting a teenage daughter makes her feel ‘clueless’ all over again.”

Aside from stepping back into the role of Cher, Silverstone will also serve as executive producer alongside ‘Clueless’ writer and director Amy Heckerling and producer Robert Lawrence. The series is being written by Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, and Jordan Weiss.

Filming is expected to begin in Los Angeles in 2027.

Released in 1995, ‘Clueless’ is a coming-of-age teen comedy film that was loosely based on Jane Austen’s 1815 novel, ‘Emma.’ It follows Cher, a beautiful, popular, and wealthy high school student who wants to do good deeds. To accomplish her goal, Cher befriends a newcomer and decides to give her a total makeover, while playing matchmaker for her teachers and examining her own life.

The film also starred Paul Rudd, Brittany Murphy, and Stacey Dash, among others. While the cast for the sequel series has yet to be announced, many fans are hoping that the OG cast will make an appearance alongside Silverstone.

As if we’re going to miss this!
