Ely Buendia & The Itchyworms jam in “Lutang” music video launch

OPM icon Ely Buendia and rock band The Itchyworms collaborate for the second time with the song, Lutang. They recently released its official music video last July 12 at Route 196 in Katipunan.

During the music video launch, Buendia shared that the song “Lutang” was inspired by social media. He kept encountering the term and really wondered what it meant. So he came up with lyrics that for him, best capture its meaning. The song has two parts: first, the guy is “lutang” because he just met this girl and forgets about her. Second, it time warps to the point that the guy is “lutang” because the girl left him.

Directed by Audrey Dionisio and Pat Sarabia, the “Lutang” music video pays homage to ‘80s exploitation movies and was entirely shot on an island in Baler. Buendia also added that the “comedy is very physical” and is sort of slapstick.

This being Buendia and The Itchyworms’ second single together following the release of Pariwara last year, many are curious if an album is coming up soon. Though there are no concrete plans about it, Buendia and The Itchyworms said that they are keeping their options open. For now, they just want to ride along “the creative wave.”

Guess we have to wait and see.
