Twenty One Pilots’ ‘Breach’ tops Billboard 200

For the first time in a decade, Twenty One Pilots breached the Billboard 200 charts, placing first.

Twenty One Pilots, an American band consisting of Tyler Joseph and Josh Dunn, released their eighth studio album, ‘Breach,’ released last September 12. ‘Breach’ debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart on Sept. 27, 2025, with 200,000 units sold in its first week. It was the second Twenty One Pilots album to reach No. 1 after ‘Blurryface’ back in 2015. According to Billboard, it was the biggest week for a Rock Album in six years.

This was made possible through the immense support from their fans, the Skeleton Clique, or simply the Clique.

The band’s lead singer, Tyler Joseph, expressed his gratitude on X.

Aside from new music to listen to, fans also expressed their excitement for the music video of the song ‘City Walls.’

‘City Walls’ had an action-packed music video that supported Twenty One Pilots’ musical and narrative universe, ‘The Story of Dema.’

Tyler Joseph played Clancy, the main character in Twenty One Pilots’ lore. In the fictional city of Dema, ruled by nine evil bishops, Clancy tried to escape to Trench. There, he met the Torchbearer—played by Josh Dun—and the leader of the Banditos, a group of rebels who fought against the bishops. Together, they tried to recruit others to resist Dema’s oppression. However, in the end, the bishops defeated Clancy. He succumbed to their control, put on a bishop’s robe, and continued the cycle of oppression.

This made ‘Breach’ the bittersweet conclusion to the band’s storyline, which spanned five albums through song lyrics, music videos, websites, and more.

The music video was an ode to the Clique, revealing that the Story of Dema was written by Tyler Joseph, Josh Dunn, Brandon Rike, Mark Eshleman, and the viewers.
