Park Sung Hoon’s agency, BH Entertainment, has released a statement regarding his recent controversy.
The actor uploaded an explicit parody poster of “Squid Game” last December 30, 2024 on social media, but the post was taken down within a minute after uploading.
Soon after, he and his agency, BH Entertainment issued an apology, stating that he had uploaded the explicit poster by mistake without recognizing it after it had been forwarded to his DMs.
“Park Sung Hoon received an overwhelming number of direct messages (DMs) on his social media. While checking the DMs, he accidentally uploaded the image,” his representatives stated.
A day later, his agency came forward with more details regarding the said incident.
“Actor Park Sung Hoon said yesterday, ‘It was uploaded due to a mistake while checking the DMs,’ but we would like to explain more in detail. Park Sung Hoon received it (the Japanese AV cover) as a direct message, but he felt it was problematic, so he downloaded the photo in question with the intention of sending it to the company manager,” BH Entertainment’s statement reads.
“He should have saved it, sent it to the manager, and then deleted it right away, but it was uploaded by mistake,” they added.
When questioned about why Park Sung Hoon would feel compelled to notify his management of such direct message, a spokesperson from the agency said, “I think he decided to send it because he thought it would be a problem that such strange things were floating around about his work.”
Despite releasing a statement about the said incident, social media users took to Twitter to express their disappointment with how the situation was handled.
