Introducing Generation Beta, a new generation on the horizon

Move over, Generation Alpha because a new generation is coming!

The arrival of 2025 marks the beginning of a fresh start for all of us. It also ushers the arrival of a new generation—Generation Beta.

Following Generation Alpha (born 2010 to 2024), Generation Beta is defined as those born between the years 2025 and 2039, and they’ll be the children of Millennials and older Gen Zs, according to social researcher and futurist Mark McCrindle.

This new generation is expected to make up 16% of the global population by 2035, and will live well into the 22nd century.

Taking its name from the Greek alphabet, McCrindle explained that Gen Beta will be raised in “a new world of technological integration,” noting that smart technology and artificial intelligence will shape the way they live.

“Their formative years will be marked by a greater emphasis on personalization—AI algorithms will tailor their learning, shopping, and social interactions in ways we can only begin to imagine today,” McCrindle wrote in a blog post.

The social researcher also noted that with Gen Beta being raised by Millennial and Gen Z parents who care about sustainability and are eco-conscious, the new generation is expected to find innovative ways to tackle global issues, including climate change.

McCrindle also predicted that Gen Beta will witness major demographic shifts, such as the decrease in fertility rates worldwide.

“As the Gen Betas are coming of age, the talk will not be overpopulation. It’ll be population sustainability,” said McCrindle.

In the end, McCrindle emphasized the importance of understanding the needs and values of the upcoming generation as it’s the key to shaping a better future and a much better society for the next generations to come.

“Generation Beta represents the dawn of a new era. They will grow up in a world shaped by breakthroughs in technology, evolving social norms, and an increasing focus on sustainability and global citizenship. Understanding their needs, values, and preferences will be critical as we anticipate how they will shape the future of society,” the blog post read.

McCrindle then shared that Gen Beta will be followed by a new set of generations: Generation Gamma, who’ll be born from 2040 to 2054, and Generation Delta, who’ll be born from 2055 to 2069.

The announcement of the birth of a new generation quickly garnered reactions from social media users, and as expected, a slew of memes were already pouring in.

Well, welcome to the world, Gen Beta!
