The FEU Institute of Technology is once again hosting its annual capstone event, CS Expo 2024, a celebration of the ingenuity and vision of its fourth-year computer science students. The event, themed “Unveiling Possibilities and Creating New Realities,” encourages students to challenge the status quo by presenting new technologies and novel approaches. Taking place on November 19, 20, and 22, 2024, the event underscores FEU Tech’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology and sparking innovative solutions in an ever-evolving digital world.
Over two days, students will present their thesis projects to a panel of faculty members and industry experts. These presentations will showcase students’ technical skills, creativity, and dedication to addressing real-world problems while inspiring them to explore bold, forward-thinking solutions. The projects are the result of months of hard work, research, and development, and this event provides students with a meaningful opportunity to share their work with a larger audience.
On November 19, the event opens with the keynote, “The Power of Innovation: How Technology Crafts Our Daily Realities.” This session will examine how emerging technologies reshape work, communication, and human interaction. Experts will discuss the transformative impact of these advancements, sharing insights into how technology redefines industries, enhances daily life, and addresses global challenges. Following the keynote, student thesis presentations in data analytics, health, and natural language processing will showcase unique ideas that aim to solve real-world issues through technology. These presentations reflect students’ commitment to leveraging technology for social good, tackling issues that have relevance across various industries.
The focus shifts to artificial intelligence on November 20 with the keynote, “Replacing the Irreplaceable: AI’s Role in Crafting New Realities.” This discussion will explore AI’s potential to automate complex tasks, improve decision-making, and redefine roles traditionally held by humans. Panelists will discuss both the opportunities and ethical considerations of AI, examining how AI-driven solutions might shape the future of work and creativity. Alongside this keynote, students will present their projects under the computer vision category, offering fresh perspectives on how AI can address today’s challenges and reshape industries. The featured projects will include creative applications of AI that highlight its potential to solve complex real-world problems.
DevDay, taking place on November 22, wraps up the event with a focus on essential skills for the modern tech landscape. The keynote, “New Skills for New Realities: Staying Ahead in a Changing World,” will address the importance of continuous learning and adaptation in today’s fast-paced workforce. This session will provide valuable insights into the key skills necessary for tech professionals to remain relevant and effective. Following this, a panel discussion on “Collaborative Success: Teamwork and Leadership in
Software Projects” will spotlight the role of collaboration in software development, emphasizing how teamwork and leadership drive success in software packaging and re-engineering.
