Instagram users are furious after discovering a subtle yet alarming news, where older videos are being turned into still images, and, worse, archived stories are being deleted.
Many are rushing to recover their priceless digital memories as the issue becomes more widespread, despite some initially believing it to be a malfunction or problem with their internet connection.

Instagram has been a cherished personal moment vault for many, lending sentimental tales and videos a sense of permanence. However, the inexplicable reduction of videos to single-frame images and the sudden disappearance of archived stories have left many in a state of dismay.
The mounting social media outrage has prompted users to take matters into their own hands, urging each other to start manually archiving their content before any more is lost.
What’s concerning for some is that Instagram has not said anything about the matter, and it’s unclear when these alterations started. The corporation has not addressed the issue of archived content disappearing yet to be turned into images, and no statement has been released to address it.
This lack of communication exacerbated users’ dissatisfaction, leading many to doubt the platform’s dependability and openness.
Similarly, this type of issue occurs regularly with the app.
In August, an article revealed that the same technological error permanently deleted several stored stories. Although Instagram claims to have solved the issue, many users, including widespread posters with numerous highlights, are concerned about the security of their digital memories.
According to a CNN report, Meta has not announced the number of affected users, but the problem seems to be widespread. This urgent situation has prompted many users to start backing up their Stories to prevent the loss of essential moments in the future.
Meanwhile, Instagram recently unveiled new features that have been shelved amid the uproar.
According to a Techradar article, the app now supports up to 20 images or videos in a carousel post and has included a new feature for double-stacked Instagram Notes. However, users are now nervously backing up their data, so these improvements are not comforting.
This finding has caused users of Instagram to reevaluate the platform’s dependability for storing digital memories. It could be too late to check your Instagram archive if you haven’t done so recently.
