Inka Magnaye calls out voice over projects priced below reasonable rate

Content creator Inka Magnaye is calling out voice-over projects that she believes are priced unreasonably.

In a post on her Facebook page, Inka Magnaye expressed her concern about seeing rates as low as Php 5,000 or below for voice-over projects, emphasizing that a 5-second digital ad should not be priced below Php 10,000.

She then asked, “Should I make a video about STANDARD voice over rates for different projects?”

Magnaye further continued in the comments emphasizing revisions and wrote, “Also HINDI dapat UNLI revisions. The rates usually come with only 2 minor revisions (meaning a few lines lang), and if they want more revisions may fee yan. Any major revisions also come with a fee [Also there must be NO UNLI revisions. The rates usually come with only 2 minor revisions (meaning a few lines only), and if they want more revisions there’s a fee. Any major revisions also come with a fee].”

She also emphasized that there needs to be an end to lowballing people’s talents.

Social media users took to the comments section to share their thoughts about her post.

One user wrote, “Yes Miss Inka. Please make a video about this topic. It would be really helpful for me and others as an agency owner, as it would allow us to establish standard rates if ever we need services from your community.”

Another user wrote, “Please make one po miss Inka. Thank you for this initiative. So that people don’t underestimate talent lalo sa [especially in] VO. I really hate it when people will tell na [that], ‘ito lang sasabihin/gagawin tapos ganito bayad?!’ [‘This is all they have to say/do, and this is the payment?!’] Talent is an investment too, pinagtratrabahuan din talaga [they really work hard for it].”

“YES PLEASE. We definitely need more transparency in the creative field so we can hold companies accountable and fight for what’s right,” a third user wrote.

Comments to Inka's post

Some users in the comments even shared a similar experience to what the content creator mentioned.

This highlights how creatives in the voice-over industry aren’t receiving the pay they truly deserve. By calling out this issue, it can serve as an eye-opener for potential clients to compensate them fairly.
