Armie Hammer sells his truck, says he can no longer ‘afford’ gas

Armie Hammer is returning to Los Angeles to begin a “new life,” trading in his beloved truck for a “tiny” hybrid.

The actor posted a video from a California Carmax on Instagram, revealing that he had returned to Los Angeles for a few weeks after withdrawing to the Cayman Islands in the wake of his cannibalism controversy.

“This is my truck. I bought this for myself in 2017 as a Christmas gift for myself because I’ve had pickup trucks for a long time, and I have loved this truck intensely and taken it camping and across [the] country multiple times and on long road trips,” he stated. “Since being back in L.A., I have put about $400 or $500 worth of gas in it, and I can’t afford it. I can’t afford the gas anymore.”

Hammer went on to say that the truck was associated with many memories, including the time he brought his injured children home from the hospital and made numerous trips in it. “Here’s to new beginnings,” he added, mentioning that he’s trading it in for a vehicle that will require little maintenance.

People took to social media to share their thoughts about the actor selling his truck.

The “Call Me By Your Name” actor left the country and spent a few years selling timeshares in the Caribbean after facing allegations of rape, cannibalism, and sexual misconduct.

Hammer stated that he is “grateful” for the accusations that turned his career around three years ago in an interview back in June.

“Whatever it was that people said, whatever it was that happened, I’m now at a place in my life where I’m grateful for every single bit of it,” he stated on an episode of the “Painful Lessons” podcast. “I’m actually now at a place where I’m really grateful for it because where I was in my life before all that stuff happened to me, I didn’t feel good. I never felt satisfied. I never had enough. I was never in a place where I was happy with myself.”
