Apple Music’s ‘100 best albums of all time’ list sparks debate among fans

Apple Music recently released their list of the best albums of all time which sparked a debate online.

It was mentioned that this list was “crafted by Apple Music’s team of experts alongside a select group of artists, songwriters, producers, and industry professionals.”

“This is an editorial statement, fully independent of any streaming numbers on Apple Music – a love letter to the records that have shaped the world music lovers live and listen in,” they added.

In a tweet made by the Global Editorial Head of Hip-Hop and R&B of Apple Music, Ebro Darden on X, the members of the Apple Music team based their picks on the following criteria:

The music streaming platform released the top 100 albums throughout the course of the countdown that started last week and the top spot was revealed last May 22.

“The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” released in 1998 claimed the top spot on the list. She is joined by other artists that made it through the list such as Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Prince, and Frank Ocean to name a few.

Hill told Apple Music, “This is my award but it’s a rich, deep narrative, and also involves so many people, and so much sacrifice, and so much time, and so much collective love.”

This has been a hot topic online as some social media users were not really satisfied with the released list.

Seems like they have achieved their goal as Zane Lowe, the Global Creative Director of Apple Music stated that, “If this list sparks more debate among fans outside of Apple Music and gets people talking passionately about the music they love, then we’ve done what we set out to do.”
