Creative Image Foundation in cooperation with Tosh Entertainment present “Repablik Ak: A Freestyle Experimental Play” from the producer of The Aliw Awards winner “BAKATA: Battle of the Street Poets,” the notable filmmaker Toshihiko Uriu. The play is directed by artist Pio Balbuena with creative consultants Direk Tikoy Aguiluz of Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story, Onin Delotavo Tagaro and Rolando Eucasion. Crafted to showcase the artistic talents of the Creative Image Foundation children and to raise awareness on RA 9165 (Dangerous Drug Act) and RA 9028 (Anti-Human Trafficking Act) that have taken hold of the country.
The freestyle experimental play is about a family, not so different from any other, were it not for a stroke of fate. Princess Regine Hontucan plays the role of Alma, the eldest in the family – a pimp forced to work in a harsh industry to provide for her brothers, Andrew Lagsa plays the role of Cesar, the middle child – a drunkard and a lout, and Lito, played by Brenan Callueng is the youngest in the family – a child dragged into a bad crowd. Will Alma’s good intentions prevail? Will they manage to stay together inspite of the harsh circumstances?
The play is in Tagalog and set to run this weekend, May 27 and 28, 7:00 PM at the TIU Theater in Amorsolo St. near Dela Rosa St. Legazpi Village, Makati City. Admission is free, note that it’s R13 viewer discretion is advised.
