Elderly Artisan finds fame on TikTok, spreads joy with handcrafted bracelets

96-year-old bracelet maker Florirose Talastas has become an unexpected internet sensation after a TikTok video captured her selling DIY bracelets near Centro Escolar University (CEU) Manila. The video, posted by @not_urhail, struck a chord with viewers who were moved by the elderly woman’s dedication and craftsmanship.

Florirose Talastas, affectionately known as “Lola Florirose,” sells her handcrafted bracelets at an affordable price range of ₱20.00 to ₱45.00. Her selling locations are consistent, with her presence near the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) from Monday to Thursday and in Quiapo every Friday. Notably, she takes a break from selling on Saturdays and Sundays.

Despite her age, Florirose Talastas has exhibited an extraordinary spirit of kindness. In a touching gesture, she has announced her plan to give away bracelets for free to everyone who visits her in the upcoming 97th birthday celebration on April 20th.
