ARMYs take offense as Football club in England allegedly ‘copies’ BTS’ logo

ARMYs really take everything BTS seriously—even down to the logo.

Birmingham City FC was recently on the ARMYs’ hit list after the football club’s logo looked similar to the South Korean supergroup BTS’ logo.

On February 1, 2024, the British professional football club announced that they had contracted Paik Seung-ho into their team. The South Korean football player signed for a 2-year contract with the football team and is the team’s first South Korean player.

The social media pages of Birmingham City FC also posted content on the days leading to Paik’s announcement in celebration of the new signing and welcoming of the team’s newest player.

Paik Seung-ho is a midfielder from South Korea. He is renowned for being a gold medalist in the Asian Games and for being a member of the South Korean national football team. Paik will stay with the team until June 2026, after playing for the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors team in South Korea.

However, ARMYs were enraged to see one post from Birmingham City FC looking too similar to BTS’ logo. The icing on that cake that set off the ARMYs’ anger was Paik Seung-ho’s initials included.

It’s a well-known fact in the BTS fandom that the logo represents unity between BTS and their fans. Which makes the anger and offense of ARMYs to be quite substantiated. Also, the logo is trademarked by BTS and BIGHIT MUSIC Co., Ltd., so ARMYs also told the football club to get ready for some lawsuits.

Others also pointed out how the football club had used a South Korean boy group’s logo as a way to announce that their new player from that country was…off-putting.

Birmingham City FC has yet to respond following this controversy.
