Thai music duo SCRUBB is all set for their debut concert in Manila on February 2024

Thai band SCRUBB is just as thrilled as the Filipino fans as they are set to have their debut show in the Philippines this February 2024.

Scrubb, composed of Thawatpon “Ball” Wongboonsiri and Torpong “Muey” Chantabubpha, is a phenomenal Thai alt-pop duo. One of the most successful groups to come out of Thailand, the pair blends techno sounds with touching narratives of life and love. Since their formation in 2000, they have become more well-known throughout Asia. Their most famous work is the soundtrack for the Thai series ‘2gether: The Series.’

In a question-and-answer roundtable on January 26, Ball and Muey expressed their sincere gratitude for the warm welcome and support they received from the Filipino community and fans, particularly during their pandemic collaboration with Ben&Ben. They also expressed their excitement about meeting and listening to, hopefully, other local music artists in the Philippines, who, if given the chance, they look forward to working with in the future. The two voiced their appreciation for the way that music is bringing two cultures together.

In the past, the duo recorded a version of their song “Everything” along with the local folk-pop band Ben&Ben.

Upon writing their songs, the two shared that their music is like writing books—sharing stories, experiences, and, of course, love. They noted that although humans face various situations and challenges in life, at the end of the day, love, compassion, and generosity still exist. Thus, the band takes inspiration from this, hoping to reach the heart and inspire their listeners.

Moreover, they shared how surprised they were as their music is being listened to across SouthEast Asian countries and more, considering the language barrier. With this, they look forward to creating translated versions of their songs to further reach people around the globe through their music.

In addition, despite being in the industry for so long, the music icons are very grateful for all the unexpected opportunities that come their way that even allow them to perform outside their country.

Before finalizing the concert, the duo said that they were worried about how they would communicate with their fans since they have different languages. Yet, they also expressed their profound gratitude for the wonderful audience they have, as seen by the fact that many of them have learned their songs by heart to sing along with them.

That said, Ball and Muey talked about how hard they were practicing to give the Pinoy fans a night to remember. They also mentioned that they were attempting to learn some Filipino terms like “Kamusta” (How are you?) and “Salamat” (Thank you) and wished to teach some Thai words to interact with the audience as well, hoping for a show full of fun and enjoyment.

Aside from 2gether: The Series’ OST, the duo will delight Filipino fans with a mix of old and newly released unreleased songs from their six studio albums.

In addition, two Filipino artists, Ellijah Canlas and TONEEJAY, will join the pair for their highly anticipated performance.

Apart from their preparation for the concert, the two remarked how excited they were to be visiting the Philippines for the first time and wanted to explore the country and taste some Pinoy delicacies and, of course, the famous fast-food chain Jollibee. They also wish to find some nice locations where they can exercise and enjoy some coffee.

The duo also revealed that fans can look forward to the band’s upcoming collaboration with Legendary Productions and some song releases coming up this year.

Scrubb will perform live in the Philippines on February 10 at Mandala Park in Mandaluyong.
