Cosplayer calls out ‘inappropriateness’ portrayed in ‘Pantasya ni Tami,’ Vivamax’s film on cosplay

A streaming service has recently released a new film entitled “Pantasya ni Tami” and the cosplay community is not happy about it.

A cosplayer took to Facebook to express her own opinion about the film. She wrote, “All i can say is what the actual fck is this disgusting s—show you call a movie about cosplayers? Is this really how the general public sees us? This NOT cosplay, this is nudity and pornography!”

She then proceeded to explain what cosplay is and what it means to them and wrote “Cosplayers are literally just a bunch of geeks dressing up as their favorite characters. Cosplay is a safe haven. This is the only place where we can freely express our love for anime/games/pop culture without any form of worry. Behind our fancy costumes, cosplayers are literally just those quiet kids you see at the back of the classroom too shy and anxious to talk to anyone.”

The Facebook user emphasized that the creators are putting them in a bad light, “And yet this film is portraying us and our community as lewd people who dress up for your perverted desires.” She continued her commentary saying that “they’re literally just wearing sexy clothes na pinatungan lang ng class a wig na di man lang sinuklay [they’re literally wearing sexy clothes that has a class a wig that is not even brushed].”

She emphasized how dangerous this move is to the audience and wrote, “This movie is putting us cosplayers in a bad light. Think of the effect you’re film is gonna put us through. If parents of cosplayers see this, then they might have the wrong idea na ganito ang ginagawa ng mga anak nila [then they might have a wrong idea that their kids are doing this]. You’re also putting us in danger by feeding the minds of perverts in public.”

Social media users took to the comments section to express their disappointment with the said move.

To end her statement, the cosplayer also stated her message to whoever thought of making this film and wrote, “To whoever thought of this movie and everyone who contributed, ya’ll are disgusting! I don’t usually post stuff like this pero [but] this is just too much. If we don’t call this out, then our community will continue to get disrespected and misrepresented.”
