Bahay Aruga is a free half-way home for pediatric cancer patients and their families who undergo out-patient treatment at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH).
Established in 2014, the organization is located along San Marcelino, Ermita, Manila–a few minutes walk from PGH. The home provides free accommodation to pediatric patients who travel to Manila to get medical treatment.
Throughout the years, the UP Pre-Medical Honor Society, an organization home to a diverse set of people united by passion to serve the Filipino people and shared interest in medicine, has launched several free medical missions aiming to provide medicine and donations to beneficiaries, while simultaneously providing experience to its members.
Last November 2022, a blood donation drive and the collection of monetary donations was initiated to provide blood and finances for the residents of Bahay Aruga.
A Christmas party was also organized for the children to enjoy the season of giving and treasure an unforgettable memory in the home.
This year, UP PMHS decided to take one step further to provide more support to the children of Bahay Aruga.
Themed “BLAZE UP: Fun Run Igniting Hope for Pediatric Cancer Patients,” the fun run aims to raise awareness and provide more funds for the pediatric cancer patients of Bahay Aruga. The fun run also advocates for the promotion of health and wellness within the UP Community.
The Fun Run takes place at the AS Steps, Palma Hall, University of the Philippines Diliman (UP Diliman) on Saturday, December 16, 2023.
The event is hosting three running events within the UP Diliman campus–2 km, 5 km, and 10km.
All events have race inclusions that include a Singlet, Race Bib, Finisher Medal, and a Bag.
Registration runs from November 6 until December 15. Runners registering as a duo or trio can avail of a discount.
