Philippines’ primetime “bidas” Alden Richards’ and Julia Montes’ highly-anticipated big screen event “Five Breakups and A Romance” is set to exceed estimates and continue to break the local movie industry’s slump when it opens in local cinemas nationwide on October 18.
“Five Breakups and A Romance” is directed by Irene Villamor (also known for her work in “Meet Me in St. Gallen” that won the Best Film, Best Actor and Best Actress awards at FACINE, “Sid and Aya” and “Camp Sawi”). The very first collaboration between GMA Pictures, Cornerstone Studios, MYRIAD Corporation, Alden’s multimedia company and distributed by Axinite Digicinema, the film also marks the first team up of Richards and Montes for the big screen.
An endearing romantic love story, “Five Breakups and A Romance” is a modern love story between Lance (Richards), a carefree fellow and Justine (Montes), career-centric woman, as they navigate to find the ideal midpoint between love and career. The film treads on the complexities of relationships in today’s fast changing landscape, but when the unexpected comes, will Lance and Justine choose love over career? Will they choose the present over the future? How many times do they have to let go in order to find a way back into each other’s lives? The unconventional pairing of the lead actors in the movie also pushes their talents tackling fresh characters and more mature roles as they deal with scenes (as teased on the trailer) they’ve never done on the big screen before.
It’s a date on October 18 only at the cinemas when “Five Breakups and A Romance” opens in cinemas nationwide.
