Concerts are happening here and there, and the scalpers and scammers are still everywhere.
A verified Facebook profile that reflects the name D.j. Prochina is being dragged online by hoarding and reselling tickets for an unreasonable price. The person behind the profile is now reselling seemingly hoarded tickets to TWICE’s upcoming ‘Ready to Be’ concert, which has further intensified the backlash.
Besides the suggested retail price (SRP), there is an additional fee of 2,000 pesos with the said purchase of the ticket.
Aside from the K-pop girl group’s concert, the same person had previously resold tickets for BLACKPINK and Bruno Mars with the same scheme.
Clearly, fans were not happy about this and aired their frustration online to call out the person regarding his behavior.
One user was brave enough to call the “scalpers” out, which is a term that they use to call scammers, on the Facebook group where he placed his post.
The user wrote: “Ang saya pala ng feeling pag nakikita mo nang hindi mapakali yung mga scalpers kakabenta ng tickets for RTB sa sabado Ilan kaya ung hihiga na sa seats this week? #karma” [“It’s such a great feeling when you see scalpers who can’t sit still, selling tickets for RTB on Saturday. I wonder how many will be lying down on the seats this week? #karma”]
Another user aired their sentiments under this post, saying, “Ang sad lang na makakakita ka ng mga bakanteng seats imbis na inuupuan ng mga legit na once na nagtiyagang pumila or mag antay online para makakuha ng tix kaya lang hinoard ng mga scalper na ang tagline eh “Respect the hustle.” [“It’s just sad that we’ll see empty seats. Instead of being occupied by legit ONCEs who patiently lined up or waited online to get tickets, they were hoarded by scalpers who always use the tagline “Respect the hustle.”]
One user cracked the code with the system of scalpers and wrote: “Ang siste nyan, makikita mo rn silang nsa PH Arena wahahaha. Ganyan sla sa Born Pink! Either dun pa lang nila ibebelow srp yan or makunat pa rin sila. pramis!!” [“The thing is, you’ll also see them at the PH Arena, wahahaha. That’s how they are with Born Pink! It’s either they’ll lower the prices below SRP there or they’ll stick to their price. I promise!!”]
With the said backfire, the profile had to first turn off the comment section, eventually deleting the post.
This is a reminder to everyone to, in the spirit of fairness, buy concert tickets from legitimate ticket providers only and avoid engaging with scalpers and scammers. Be vigilant in buying tickets from others.
