Taylor Swift asked to pay city fine 32 times over trash in front of NYC home

American singer and songwriter Taylor Swift was fined by New York City’s sanitation department after failing to keep her side of the street clean, according to a report by the New York Post.

Swift’s three-story townhouse in Tribeca, NYC, which was purchased in October 2017 for $18 million, was ticketed 32 times between January 2018 and January 2023, accumulating a total of $3,010 fine charges, for “failing to keep the sidewalks in front of her building clean.”

The property which was converted into a private entrance for her penthouse next door was said to be responsible for the improper disposal of garbage leading to a buildup of newspapers, bottles, cardboard, napkins, wrappers, cigarette carton, and “scattered ashtray contents” on the sidewalk.

According to city records, the said townhouse has also acquired the most sanitation tickets of any building on the block since Swift purchased the property.

The post also shared that Swift’s legal team decided to fight the charges, which lead to a deduction of $200 from the total amount of penalties she had to pay.

Swifties are quick to protect the singer as they point out that it is impossible for Swift to accumulate that much trash as she was in her ongoing ‘The Eras Tour’ traveling around the United States – and guessed it might be the fans and paparazzi who was waiting for the superstar in her house that leaves the trash.

Swift’s Cornelia Street landlord David Aldea also shared his insight on Swift’s littering situation and said that “She was nothing but a perfect tenant the entire time and lovely to deal with,” he said. “I have nothing but positive things to say about her.”

Swift is set to release her third upcoming re-recorded album Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) on July 7, with 6 “From the Vault” tracks including a collaboration with rock band Fall Out Boy and Paramore’s Hayley Williams.
