Social Media platform Twitter has imposed a strict ‘rate limit’ policy that will limit the tweets a user can read every day, and well, users are not happy.
Twitter owner Elon Musk shared the news in a tweet on Sunday, July 2, that these changes will “address extreme levels of data scraping & system manipulation.”
Whereas temporary limits will be applied to the number of tweets a user can view depending on their account’s verification status. Users with verified accounts are limited to 6,000 posts/day, unverified accounts with 600 posts/day, and new unverified accounts with 300 posts/day.
It has since been reportedly increased to 10,000 for verified accounts, 1,000 for unverified accounts, and 500 for new unverified accounts.

Some users believed that this change is a way to encourage users to have their accounts validated through the new subscription system.

I'm betting Twitter has done this reading limit for many reasons, including a push to the "subscription" reading model.
In all sincerity, I can't think of a single person I would pay to read on here. Not a single one. Granted, I don't "pay to play," either. So, there's that.

Earlier this year, Twitter introduced a subscription system to boost the revenue of the micro-blogging site, wherein, in order to have your account verified you need to pay a monthly subscription fee of $8 (approx. P440) per month for what they call the Twitter Blue subscription.
These changes put a target on Musk’s back once again for “ruining” the platform.

You're basically forcing people to pay to use Twitter. All my friends are done using it for the day, already by this morning. You're tanking this website lol

You can't convince me that Elon Musk bought this site for any other reason other than to ruin it so that information travels slower and it's harder to organize.

Just when I thought Elon Musk couldn’t ruin this app any more than he already has… he goes and adds something even more ridiculous https://t.co/2sBCbZ6sDV pic.twitter.com/IYaoxlGhNr
