Shi Qi, a teacher from Malaysia, recently posted an apology online after she received criticism for uploading a video on TikTok where she looked into the bag of her students.
Shi Qi is not just a teacher but also a content creator who is popular on TikTok as @notqiwiie.
It was said that in the video, the teacher opened the bags of her students and even ate candies from one of them. Shi Qi has been criticized for invading the privacy of her students.
On her TikTok account, the teacher took the time to extend her apologies for the video she uploaded. “I would like to apologise to the parents and individuals who were offended by a recent video I posted,” Shi Qi wrote.
The teacher admitted in the apology that the video was actually sponsored. Aside from this, she also stated that the video was taken during their break time and prior to that, the gummies have been placed in the bags of the students.
Shi Qi mentioned that there were no students present in the video. She also admitted that she did not have consent in opening the bags of the students. This was different from her past videos where she was given consent by parents. The teacher said that that was an oversight and her fault, which is something that she really regrets.
“A few concerned individuals saw the video when it was first posted and pointed out that it was not the right thing to do,” the teacher stated. After realizing the wrong thing that she had done, she eventually deleted the video.
Shi Qi added that she regrets that there are copies of the video that have now spread online.
The teacher said that she is new in the world of content creation and that she is still learning. However, Shi Qi believes that it was not an excuse. She is grateful for the people who brought up the problem.
“I am honestly very grateful to everyone who has brought this issue up and I will take this as a lesson to be more mindful and conscientious in the future,” Shi Qi added.
In the last part of her apology, she said that her students’ safety and well-being are the most important. “For now, all videos with children have been removed from my social media,” the teacher stated.
Shi Qi will use the time to think about her plans in the future with the goal that she will be able to do better for her students.
