Hilda Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has cooked up something remarkable for Nigeria, and it extends beyond the realm of culinary delights–it’s an attempt at creating a new world record. Her latest endeavor, a cooking marathon of her own making, has garnered international attention and made headlines across the globe.
She is hoping to surpass the record title for longest cooking marathon (individual) from India’s Lata Tondon with a time of 87 hours and 45 minutes.
Hilda began the marathon on May 11 and then concluded it on May 15. She has cooked 55 recipes and have served more than 100 meals in a whopping 100-hour stint.
Officials from Guinness World Records are looking forward for Hilda to achieve the new record soon as they review evidence for verification.
“We are aware of the record attempt and are looking forward to receiving the evidence for our Records Management Team to review, before we can confirm the record is official,” a spokesperson from Guinness World Records said.
Hilda told the media that she has been doing this cooking marathon challenge in an aim to represent Nigerian cuisine.
“Nigerian cuisine is the best out there. The more recipes are propagated, the more people will be willing to try it. Nigerian food is such comfort food,” said Hilda.
