HoYoverse replaces Genshin Impact character’s VA due to sexual misconduct scandal

Greg Heffley’s going to be the new voice actor for Tighnari? Wow.

In a blog post regarding the upcoming 3.6 version of Genshin Impact posted on April 10, 2023, HoYoverse announced that the English voice actor of the 5-star Dendro character Tighnari will be updated. This change was made due to the sexual abuse allegations surrounding the character’s former voice actor, Elliot Gindi.

A day later, HoYoverse officially announced that actor Zachary Gordon is the character’s new voice actor, much to the delight of the fans. Zachary Gordon also shared the news on his Twitter account and was given a warm welcome by his fellow Genshin Impact voice actors and fans.

Of course, fans were quick to make memes of the announcement—Zachary Gordon was the actor for the “Diary of the Wimpy Kid” protagonist, Greg Heffley.

Zachary Gordon replaced Elliot Gindi, who was embroiled in sexual misconduct allegations in February. Following a series of Tweets exposing Gindi’s misconduct towards minors, gaslighting and manipulation, sexism, and transphobia, the now-ill reputed voice actor was swiftly removed from Genshin Impact’s voice actor line-up.
