SHINee’s Taemin officially completes military service, excites fans with upcoming fan meet

South Korean star Lee Tae-min, a member of the boy group SHINee, has been discharged from his two-year military service.

On April 4, at midnight KST, the group tweeted about Tae-min’s return to the spotlight after his successful military enlistment, and SHAWOLs couldn’t be more excited about the good news. SHINee dropped a video entitled, ‘TAEMIN IS BACK’ — honoring the comeback of the ‘Idol’s idol.’

In the SM Entertainment fan community space, the K-pop singer wrote a heartfelt letter to his fans:

“Hello, this is Taemin.

It was both a really long and really short time. Though it seems like it was a valuable time for me to reflect on myself, I came to realize I was very grateful and happy for the past time I spent.

I missed you so much that saying, ‘I miss you’ is not enough, and I believe everyone who believed in me and waited for me must have felt the same way as I did,” the statement reads.

The singer also took the chance to thank all his fans for their never-ending support— one of the things that gave him more strength and courage during his military service.

“Thank you so much for making me a special person, and I’ll repay you with a grateful heart for the rest of my life and move forward with a sense of mission.

I will always be a part of your happiness. All the best moving forward,” he concluded the letter with a grateful heart.

A day after his military discharge, Tae-min made an Instagram live with fans and posted a few snaps with the caption, ‘Thank you for waiting.’

In 2021, the 26-year-old performer was first enlisted in the military on May 31 but started his active duty on April 19. Now that he’s back in the K-pop world, he announced a two-day solo fan meet on April 22-23 at the Kyung Hee University Peace Hall in Seoul, Korea. Pre-sale tickets will be available for fan club members on April 13, followed by general ticket selling on April 17.

Welcome back, Tae-min!
