Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director, James Gunn, reveals the songs that will make up the third film’s “Awesome Mix Vol. 3” soundtrack, and there are some classic hits on the list.
The Guardians of the Galaxy movies have some of the most nostalgic and best soundtracks for a movie, comic book, franchise, or otherwise. The movie soundtrack has even become one of its most well-known facets, and we finally get to listen to “Awesome Mix Vol. 3.”
From Alice Cooper, Beastie Boys, Florence and the Machine, Bruce Springsteen, and Radiohead, to name a few, are among the artists featured in the upcoming movie. Although the songs don’t really reveal anything about how the movie is going to unfold, the playlist does have some emotional and feel-good tracks that make you imagine scenes before you’ve seen them.
The movie will also mark Gunn’s farewell to Marvel Studios as he moves on to his next project, Superman: Legacy, and his new position as co-CEO of DC Studios.
In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, our beloved band of misfits is looking a bit different these days. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe while also protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is slated for theatrical release on May 5, 2023.
