“Who doesn’t love a good acoustic song? I just felt the need to release an acoustic version of Young Hearts with someone who appreciates the song and I was honored to find out that Darren Espanto vibe to Young Hearts the same way I do. says Qistina. “After hearing Darren’s breakthrough track “Stuck”, I knew that Darren will be a perfect duet partner for my acoustic version”. The stripped down version of ‘Young Hearts’ took two months to complete and beautifully arranged by Francis Guevarra (A&R, Universal Music Philippines) targeted to reach acoustic fans and those who appreciates simple arrangement in a good song.
“For me, our collaboration of Young Hearts is something out the box because I’m used to always belting and keeping energy high, but with this song I got to show my more chill yet powerful side”. says Darren.
“‘Young Hearts’ is a song about coming to the realisation that loving yourself first, before anyone else, is so important. I’m still learning to appreciate myself for the person I was meant to be, and it’s an amazing feeling,” says Qistina of the song and the inspiration behind it. Lyrically, the song is a coming-of-age anthem, focusing on the teenage struggle of looking for love in all the wrong places, getting to know yourself, and understanding that there are better and bigger things out there. This stripped version of ’Young Hearts’ is an extension to the original song, and is in line with Qistina’s direction; a sound proven to be as current, relatable, and edgy as Qistina herself.
