MOMOLAND disbands 6 years after debut

We’re not ready for ̶a ̶l̶o̶v̶e̶ ̶l̶i̶k̶e̶ this.

On February 14, 2023, Hyebin, Jane, Nayun, JooE, Ahin, and Nancy of MOMOLAND took to their Instagram accounts to post handwritten letters (both in Korean and English), inevitably announcing the news of their disbandment to their fans, the Merries.

“First of all, we sincerely apologize to our Merries facing the news through an article. We are truly sorry for the late update.

After a long, deep discussion, the six of us members have decided to support each other to have a great new beginning going forward.

Even though we have decided to take our own paths towards our dreams, Us MOMOLAND will always be a team.

We sincerely thank our beloved Merries for providing us with precious memories and being by our side for the last seven years. Our Merries have been everything to us and always will be.

We are deeply sorry that we couldn’t let you guys know sooner, but sincerely thank each and everyone that have patiently waited for us.

Moving forward, please continue to support and love MOMOLAND and each and every member’s path.

Thank you.”

Merries and other K-Pop stans immediately took to Twitter to release all of their feelings and to celebrate MOMOLAND’s undeniable impact on K-Pop with the hashtag #ThankYouMomoland.

MOMOLAND debuted under MLD Entertainment on November 10, 2016, with their mini album “Welcome to Momoland”. In 2018, the then-9-member girl group launched to international stardom after the release of their single, “Bboom Bboom” went viral on social media, most especially in the Philippines. Their next single, “Baam” also started a craze in the country, especially after member Nancy waved the Philippine flag in their music video.

In 2019, MLD Entertainment and MOMOLAND signed a co-management agreement with ABS-CBN Corporation, for their overseas activities in the Philippines. In the same year, the girl group donated their earnings from their “Good Friends in Manila” concert to Filipino children in need from 2 barangays in Antipolo, Philippines.

We wish you good luck to all of your future endeavors, MOMOLAND! Thank you for your service to K-Pop.
