SB19 former management SBTown reveals first ever P-Pop girl group, YGIG

Good news for P-Pop fans–there’s a new promising girl group to look out for, and they’re called YGIG!

On November 24, SBTown introduced its first P-Pop girl group, YGIG. The group name stands for “You Go, I Go” and is composed of seven members, namely, Alexei, Maeg, JM, Vien, Darlene, Hazelyn, and Jewel. One of the members, Darlene, is already familiar to Filipino audiences as she was one of the contestants on The Voice Kids Philippines back in 2014, who became known as “The Girl on Fire.”

YGIG’s management is led by Geong Seong Han, popularly known to P-pop fans as “Tatang Robin,” the producer of today’s P-pop powerhouse, SB19. Following the boy band’s success, he launched YGIG with the hopes of elevating the P-pop girl group’s platform across the globe. The septet is also the first ever group to debut under the partnership of SBTown and Universal Records.

YGIG has a huge outlook on their career as they aim to pave the way for Filipino girl groups on the global stage. The girls are hoping to establish their name on the local and international scene as they bring with them the culture and music of the Philippines.

YGIG presscon

YGIG took a lot of preparation before they debuted. The group’s Korean trainer, Adie Hong a.k.a “Hongganda,” shared that the girls underwent extensive training under the SBTalent camp in the span of four years. “They did not give up, and they fully trust the company. They sincerely participated in the training, even offline [or] online. I want to tell you that our YGIG members are very patient, sincere, and passionate about their duty,” Hong shares.

Alexei also shared that their training lasts for 8 to 9 hours a day and sometimes exceeds that on some days. Aside from the training, they also monitor and regulate their food intake.

YGIG performs ‘Shaba Shaba’

YGIG showcased an exclusive performance of ‘Shaba Shaba,’ their very first single. It is an upbeat song with a hip hop rhythm that will surely replay in listeners’ heads for days. The title is a word play on the Filipino phrase “Siya ba?”. In the song, the term is used as a love spell for a person you like.

‘Shaba Shaba,’ will be released Monday, November 28. Watch the teaser here.

Congratulations, YGIG!
