Red Velvet’s Seulgi hauntingly enchants in debut mini album “28 Reasons”

Reveluvs rejoice, our Kang Seulgi has finally made her solo debut!

On October 4, 2022 at 6 P.M. KST, Red Velvet’s Seulgi and SM Entertainment released her much anticipated solo EP, “28 Reasons” and the MV for the title track of the same name. Seulgi is the third member of Red Velvet debuting as a solo artist, following Wendy and Joy.

“28 Reasons” consists of six tracks with R&B as a recurring genre which showcase her velvet and dream-like vocals. One of the songs, “Dead Man Runnin’” sees the participation of Seulgi as the lyricist, where she expresses the anxieties and emptiness she felt in the past. Another track (Bad Boy, Sad Girl) features South Korean rapper Be’O who participated in writing his own rap.

The title track, “28 Reasons” is a dance-pop track featuring a groovy and heavy bass sound and a whistling effect. The lyrics illustrate a character who is both “good and evil”, and the many reason how their character affects their relationships.

ReVeluvs are obviously in euphoric after the release of Seulgi’s first-ever EP. With one of K-Pop’s “All-Rounder” artists, there’s no doubt that Seulgi will live up to her own standards.

There are no other words in describing Seulgi’s album. Just listen to it and watch her MV here. You’ll see why her artistry is like no other.
