BLACKPINK pays homage to their career with ‘Shut Down’

Nobody just does it like BLACKPINK.

On September 16, 2022 at 1 P.M. KST, BLACKPINK and YG Entertainment dropped the girl group’s much-anticipated second studio album, along with an accompanying music video for the title track, “Shut Down”. Their second full album, titled “Born Pink”, comes 2 years after BLACKPINK’s debut studio album, “THE ALBUM”.

Consisting of 8 tracks, “Born Pink” features a variety of genres such as hip-hop, pop, disco, rock, and ballad. Two songs had been launched prior to the album’s release—“Ready for Love” as a promotional single and collaboration with PUBG Mobile, and “Pink Venom”, which served as the album’s pre-release single and wsa released last August 19, 2022.

“Shut Down” is a hip-hop track sampling “La Campanella” by classical composer Niccolò Paganini, produced by TEDDY and 24 and lyrics by TEDDY, Danny Chung, and Vince. The music video references almost all of BLACKPINK’s previous music videos, much to the delight of their fans.

Since the release of the album and music video at exactly 1 P.M. KST, BLINKs all over the world were immediately astounded by the quartet’s newest release and gushed about the references they saw on the music video. As of writing, everything related to the girl group and their latest album were all trending topics on social media.

BLACKPINK will always be relevant. And you know what, they’re right. It’s not a comeback since they never left in the first place.
