The fantasy action RPG Elden Ring is getting a manga adaptation and it’s actually more of a comedy rather than sticking to its original dark theme.
It will feature characters such as Melina, Radahn, and Malenia with renowned manga artist Nikiicha Tobita put in charge of the artwork. He is known for writing A Cursed Sword’s Daily Life, which is also a dark fantasy turned comedy story.
The story follows a Tarnished (who is the player in the game) as they manifest in a place called Limgrave as a Wretch, which is the weakest starting class in the game. The character is named “Aseo” by Melina, an abbreviation of “Asebito”, which means tarnished in Japanese.
Aseo braves the dangers of the world with the lowest stats possible, dressed in his underwear, and stores his equipment in his buttocks.
Only two chapters are currently available but new episodes will be released every fourth and 19th of the month on Comic Walker.
The book will come in both English and Japanese but eventually will also be published in Traditional Chinese, Thai, Korean, French, German, Spanish, Latin American Spanish, Italian, Polish, and Brazilian Portuguese by various companies.
Readers also must note that the story does involve a lot of inside jokes based on the game and may contain spoilers for new players. The debut issues are packed with fourth-wall-breaking jokes and jokes that are found in-game. The starting page even indicates that it is a comedic manga, which sets the tone for the two chapters.
The manga is published by Kadokawa, the parent company of FromSoftware, which is the developer of the Elden Ring video game.
