In an announcement made by the Hakusensha’s Young Animal magazine and Kouji Mori, they shared the news that “the Berserk manga series will continue beginning with this year’s 13th issue of Young Animal on June 24. The manga will first have six chapters that will go to the end of the “Fantasia Arc/Elf Island Chapter,” with a new arc beginning afterward.” They further shared that as the series moves forward, the manga will now contain the following credits, “Original work by Kentaro Miura, manga by Studio Gaga, supervised by Kouji Mori.”

Studio Gaga is actually Kentaro Miura’s studio where he worked with his assistants and apprentices who alongside helped him with Berserk. While Kouji Mori is a close childhood friend of Miura, and whom he frequently consulted with plot details for Berserk. And last year, Kouji Mori even drew a one-shot manga in Young Animal that narrates the story of his lifelong friendship and creative relationship with the late manga artist.

Mori even shared that he knows the story of the manga series up to the very end and says that both of them have discussed the ending of Berserk since the manga’s iconic ‘Eclipse’ event about 30 years ago. That is why after the passing of Kentaro Miura, he thought about discussing the ending through an interview or coming up with illustrations with an accompanying article but he thought that this will not be sufficient enough for the entire story of Berserk. And through the offer of Studio Gaga to help them continue the manga series, Mori accepted and promises to recall the details as much as possible and tell the story to fans. He also reassures the avid readers that even though his telling of the story can be imperfect, he is almost sure that it is possible to tell the story that Kentarou Miura wanted to tell.
