More and more K-Pop artists are set to release new music this summer, and soloist SUNMI is part of them.
On June 7, 2022, Xports News first broke the news that SUNMI would be making her comeback by the end of June and that she is in the final stages of her preparations. With many artists also releasing new music at this time, Naver described the period as the “summer comeback battle”. On June 8, SUNMI’s agency Abyss Company confirmed that the soloist is preparing to make a comeback by the end of the month.
This new release marks 11 months since her third EP, “1/6”, which was released on August 6, 2021, with the lead single, “You Can’t Sit With Us”.
Popularly known as a strong female soloist and former member of JYP Ent. girl group “Wonder Girls”, SUNMI is loved for her hit songs “Gashina”, 24 Hours”, “Heroine”, “Lalalay”, “Pporappippam”, and “Tail”. She has recently released the digital single “Go or Stop?” last October 11, 2021, which was in collaboration with DWG KIA, and “Oh Sorry Ya” for Spotify Singles last March 2022.
Fans are hoping that teasers for SUNMI’s comeback will be posted by her agency Abyss Company real soon.
Summer in the K-Pop world just means business for everyone, man. Naver was right, this year it’s a “summer comeback battle” indeed”.
