Rachel Zegler gets invited to the Oscars after fans’ reactions to invite snub

West Side Story actress, Rachel Zegler, will now attend this year’s Oscars following the cries of her fans upon revealing that she didn’t get invited.

Rachel Zegler plays the lead role of Maria in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, one of the front-runners in this year’s 94th Academy Awards, with a total number of 7 nominations including Best Picture.

Zegler made recent headlines after sharing on an Instagram comment that she didn’t get an invitation to attend the awarding ceremony. She then followed up with a Twitter statement, saying that while she appreciates fans’ concerns, everyone should just respect the process of these Award shows. Fans’ support and dismay came flooding in right after knowing the unfairness of the news. Though Zegler failed to be part of the nominees for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance, fans still believe that she deserves to attend the Oscars together with her co-stars to celebrate the hard work they have poured for their film.

But truly we shouldn’t underestimate the voice of the fans, as it seems like the fans’ overflowing support and their shared frustrations over the Oscars definitely pulled off a miracle as Zegler was announced as one of the Academy Award presenters, which means she will be able to celebrate with her West Side Story family on their special night after all!

Zegler took to Twitter to share the exciting news with her fans and to also thank her team for making this happen:

In a follow-up tweet, Zegler also took the time to thank the Academy Awards and its producer Will Packer. She also shared her excitement to open the famous shiny envelope and what she should wear.

The 94th Academy Awards will take place on March 27, 2022, Sunday in the Dolby Theatre at the Hollywood & Highland Center.
