Homebound breaks the mould with new EP ‘The Mould You Build Yourself Around’

February 10th, 2017 – Singapore – Farnham Pop Punk Quartet Homebound have released their third EP, ‘The Mould You Build Yourself Around’, via Rude Records. Discussing the artwork, Vocalist Charlie Boughton explains, “It is really simple yet poignant in its message: even something as well-crafted and perfect as a statue can over time, become weathered and fragile. And much like the statue, we as people are no different, regardless of the life we choose for ourselves and how we ‘craft’ our lives so to speak.

Having already released singles “Headspace”, “Distrait” and “Sonder”, the band are also celebrating the EP’s release by unveiling the video for “Broken Reverie” here: smarturl.it/BrokenReverieVideo.

When we let ourselves become so invested in something or someone, we often cannot see things for what they truly are. This song is just one example of how I let myself get caught up in my own perception of a relationship that really wasn’t perfect and idyllic”, comments Boughton, continuing to say: “We’re all really stoked on every track but if we had to pick one we were most excited for people to hear, it was Broken Reverie. I think it demonstrates how far we’ve come as a band, its super fun to play and translates really well live.

The quartet, completed by guitarists Tom Mellon and Chris Wheatley and Joe Aspell-Beaumont on bass duties, feel that TMYBYA has a darker and more mature sound, that is closer to where they want to be as a band. Recording once again with Seb Barlow (Neck Deep, As It Is, WSTR), the band recall: “He was the obvious choice for us. We both work in a similar way and he knows exactly what kind of band we want be, which really helped us to get the best out of these songs. His production on this EP is his best to date and we couldn’t be more stoked on the outcome.” Well-crafted throughout with bouncing melodies, driving drums, intricate guitar work and gritty lyrics, Homebound manage to deliver maturity, diversity and depth, whilst still retaining the fun that pop punk is known for. Boughton concludes: “The release of the EP marks almost a year to the day since we finished recording it and it’s been a long journey for us all since then, so for it to finally be available for everyone to hear is awesome.
