1. Every September 1 we’re all like:
September 1= Start of Christmas
2. We treat Jose Mari Chan’s Christmas songs as our National Anthem every Christmas season.
Every damn store in the country plays “Christmas in Our Hearts.”
3. In the Philippines we don’t just say Merry Christmas, we say “Namamasko po…”
…and I think that comes with money.
4. Because Aguinaldo isn’t just a name, it’s also an ampao full of money from Ninongs and Ninangs.
*me after Christmas with everything I got from ninong and ninang*
5. Unless your ninong/ninang gives you ~*loooove*~ instead.
Mata-touch po ba ako dapat?
6. We teach kids to be resourceful with their Christmas carol instruments.
Who needs to buy legit instruments when you have tansan and metal utensils?!
7. Kids are always singing TV stations’ Christmas songs for their Christmas carols.
8. “Putubumbong and Bibingka” is the best “twinning” every Christmas season.
9. Well, we could probably also add that ham and queso de bola.
10. Almost every student had a project of “how to make parol.”
And it’s an overwhelming achievement when you see your parol hanging on your school or your classroom.
11. We make it a mission to attend every Simbang Gabi because we believe it will make our wishes come true.
It’s also our way to thank God for all the blessings we’ve received.
12. As for some, it’s a way to parade their “fashion” and just casually walk around the neighborhood.
13. Gift-giving is more special with a surprise from your “monito/monita.”
Just hope it’s a good kind of surprise though.
14. The feeling of being with your family for Noche Buena is just simply priceless.
Because family is the best kind of “relationship goals” to have!
15. And finally, as one the happiest people on earth, we even manage to make our Christmas happy despite the struggles and disasters we encounter.
“Walang tatalo sa Paskong Pinoy,” as they say!
