ABOUT THE EVENT
RUN AGAINST CANCER is a fun run/walk organized by MY BRAVE LITTLE WARRIOR INC. to raise awareness about cancer and to raise funds for financially disadvantaged cancer patients.
RUN AGAINST CANCER 2016 will be held on 28 AUGUST 2016 (SUNDAY) from 6:00AM to 10:00 AM at the UP ACADEMIC OVAL, UP DILIMAN. The categories for the run are 3K, 5K AND 10K.
MY BRAVE LITTLE WARRIOR, INC. seeks to make this activity an annual event that will foster camaraderie among cancer patients and survivors and their families and friends.
ABOUT MY BRAVE LITTLE WARRIOR INC.
My Brave Little Warrior, Inc. is a non-stock non-profit organization registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission, which aims to assist young patients suffering from leukemia and other kinds of cancer.
The mission to help started many years ago when a very frail young boy was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) at age 5. The boy had to undergo intensive treatment for one year and maintenance chemotherapy for four years. During the entire ordeal, it was a realization that many who are diagnosed with cancer, especially young children, are financially unable to get medical treatment. Moreover, the ravages of cancer takes its toll on the entire family as they deal with the complications brought about by cancer and chemotherapy and other forms of medical treatment.
Thus, My Brave Little Warrior, Inc. was born, as our humble way of paying forward, and doing our bit in helping those with cancer and their families who suffer along with them.
Our focus is geared toward assisting young and elderly cancer patients — and their family members — to help alleviate the pain that they feel brought about by emotional and financial stress. It is envisioned that My Brave Little Warrior, Inc. can raise more funds in a sustainable manner so that we can reach out to a greater number of young and old cancer patients.
Our goal is to provide whatever financial and material support that we can raise for the cancer patients. Our projects include play therapy with patients, book sharing and reading, providing financial and medicine support to cancer patients and simple gift giving during the Christmas season. Other projects in the pipeline are grief counseling, scholarships for deserving cancer patients and livelihood projects for financially disadvantaged parents and families who are battling with cancer.
