Tourism Promotions Board Philippines renews its collaboration with MTV for the show’s second year celebrating pop and its dance influence
MANILA, Philippines – MTV Music Evolution Manila is back for more fun again in the Philippines! Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines reprises its collaboration with MTV, a unit of Viacom Inc. (NASDAQ: VIAB, VIA), and marks the return of MTV Music Evolution Manila to the Philippines on Friday, 24 June 2016. This will be the second year the award-winning* show will be held in the Philippines and in 2016, the one-night only live music event will celebrate pop music like never before – enabling fans to experience and discover the evolution of pop music and its dance influence that keeps fans moving. MTV Asia reveals its first act, iconic international pop band and prolific hitmaker, OneRepublic, who returns to the Philippines for its second performance since 2013.

Despite starting their career as an alternative rock band, OneRepublic has emerged as one of the biggest pop bands over the last decade, integrating dance influences successfully in several of their international iconic pop hits like its smash “Counting Stars”, “Secrets”, “Feel Again”, “Love Runs Out” and more. The band has a sound signature recognizable everywhere by its legions of fans, with their music played in clubs, including club remixes. OneRepublic has also collaborated with world acclaimed DJs such as Alesso. The band has recently been in the studio recording their 4th album.
MTV Music Evolution Manila 2016 will showcase iconic and contemporary international music artists and the hottest new acts in both the regional and local music scenes on a single stage, while featuring the best of Philippine music and culture to international youth audiences. OneRepublic released their debut set Dreaming Out Loud in 2007. The album included the smash single “Apologize”, which shattered digital sales and airplay records worldwide and received a Grammy nomination. The band’s sophomore album, 2009’s Waking Up, produced three singles: “All the Right Moves”, “Secrets” and “Good Life”.
OneRepublic’s third studio album Native, was released in March 2015 where it debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. The set produced the hit singles “If I Lose Myself”, “Feel Again”, “Love Runs Out”, “I Lived” and “Counting Stars”, which reached #1 at Top 40 radio and has sold over 10 million downloads. OneRepublic has toured the world headlining dates in the U.S. and Europe and is currently working on a new album.

MTV Music Evolution Manila is a live music event that brings to life the evolution of a music genre and enables young people to experience and discover how music styles and sounds have evolved over the years. MTV Music Evolution Manila marked its inauguration 2015 edition with a feature on hip hop, which showcased a stellar line-up of international and local acts who took to the stage in celebration of iconic and contemporary hip-hop music. The live music event was one of the many exciting events under the Visit the Philippines Year (VPY) 2015 campaign by the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) and the Philippine Department of Tourism.
