It’s true that we’ve been conditioned to believe the famous saying which implied that ‘good things come to those who wait’ when we were kids. But this waiting game might be taking a little too long for Percy Jackson fans that some might have forgotten that the series is really happening.
Yes, it’s gonna come to life – in case it has already slipped your minds. Here’s the latest update on the series and what’s currently going on with its whole production plans:
The series’ author, Rick Riordan, has finally been given the green light from Disney Plus!
(Crowd cheers) Finally! On January 29, 2022, Rick Riordan announced on his website that he’s finally been given the green light by Disney Plus.
The author posted a 1-minute clip of the announcement and enthusiastically confirmed to Percy Jackson fans that the series is really happening and is on its way to come to life.
James Bobin is going to be directing the pilot episode.
Confirmed by Riordan himself, James Bobin is on board to direct the series’ pilot episode.
This is exactly great news because the author himself said that the director knows the series very well – even his children are fans of the series – so best believe that it will no longer be ridiculously altered… unlike the movie adaptations that we’ve all been trying to forget that even happened.
The team is already working on the script.
Riordan stated that the writers continually gather every week with the presence of the author himself and have already produced the first four scripts which were needed for the streaming service to give them the go signal.
The search for Percy, Annabeth, and Grover’s actors is currently on the move.
Just imagining Percy, Annabeth, and Grover’s chemistry and dynamic onscreen is going to make us lose our minds. That’s why Rick Riordan is meticulous when it comes to casting the protagonists, as he wants the actors to have the best chemistry – one that flows naturally.
The author reassured that they are making great progress with the casting and still in process as of now.
He also said that it’ll probably take months for the main cast to be decided.
The Production team is set to start filming in Vancouver.
The author disclosed that the production team plans to film in Vancouver in the summer.
The team is already working on the production design, costumes, and music composition to get Percy’s world accurate and looks close to how it’s portrayed in the books.
Now that the Percy Jackson TV series is not just a figment of our imaginations and will be finally coming into existence, let’s get the hype back and patiently wait for more updates in the following months.
Or reread the series, maybe? Like we always do.
