If you’re a person whose daily activities require the use of a computer for work, school or other productivity-related tasks, then the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro might be the ultimate device for you. This laptop is part of Lenovo’s Yoga series with units that have ultra-slim designs and impressive specs that make for a complete computing package for just about anyone who needs a good laptop to get the work done.
The Yoga Slim 7i Pro boasts of a combination of fast performance, immersive graphics, excellent connection and better battery life, making it a perfect device for all types of users who ultimately rely on good tech to keep the day going.
Here’s a look at how the product actually stacks up:
At first glance
The laptop comes inside a sleek-looking box and a simple protective cloth case, which is attractive in an understated way. It comes in two different colors: slate grey and light silver. This works very well with the intention of making it have a more professional look–it really does embody what it means to have a sleek design.
From the get go, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro does seem a bit square-ish, but for a reason–it has a 14-inch display in 16:10 aspect ratio, giving more vertical space for the screen (you’d think super widescreen is the way to go, but you’d be surprised how much you actually need vertical space especially for work, especially if you’re using sheets and documents). It has 2.8K clarity, so expect detail and realism to really pop off on the screen. The laptop keyboard is also aptly-spaced and actually contains larger keys that are surprisingly backlit—a definite plus for people such as this reviewer who routinely work in the dark.
Details, details, details
Coming off as a favourite part for this reviewer is the trackpad of the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro. Not only is it larger than usual, but it’s also very smooth and receptive to touch, although it could have done better by muting the click sound a little bit more. The sound system that comes with the Yoga Slim 7i Pro is also pretty commendable—it has Dolby Atmos stereo speakers which have really high audio output quality and has a wide volume adjustment range. This is really important to note because it does give you such an immersive audio-visual experience.
Worth thanking Lenovo as well for not taking out the audio jack—while wireless has reached mainstream levels, there are still a lot of users that swear by the enjoyment of using wired earphones or headphones for listening. Like this reviewer, for instance.
Graphics that really meet expectations
The unit does promise better graphics with the Intel® Iris® Xe graphics so it is no surprise that it can render solid visuals, especially when using content creation applications, which do require high graphic performance.
Aside from these, the laptop also has a number of smart features to aid its user. Perhaps it needs more highlighting, but really, the time-of-flight sensor, which captures user presence, is such a smart feature. This means that once you get up from your seat and walk away from the computer, it automatically locks the screen, and turns the light back on once the user returns. That has to be a neat feature!
We didn’t headline this review with ‘ultra productive’ for nothing
Okay, here’s the thing—Lenovo wasn’t kidding when they said the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro is ultra responsive and ultra productive. Test-running the unit gave a glimpse into its high performance that can weather your busiest days of work or creation, thanks to its 11th Gen Intel® Core™ processors. This reviewer was able to simultaneously fire up work while even binge-watching on the side, which means it can handle multiple applications at a time without slagging. The laptop also comes with Rapid Charge Boost (which charges rapidly, indeed) and a claimed 18.5-hour standby battery life, although per test run, the laptop was able to run for a good 7 hours only before shutting down. Another good thing about this laptop is that the unit doesn’t get uncomfortably warm (well, at least per test-run) while using or charging.
Some honest downsides to the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro
Its camera leaves much to be desired. It doesn’t offer the highest quality, so it might hit you that you may still have to invest in a good web camera if you’re very particular with camera quality, especially when used for professional meetings.
The laptop also does not have a lot of ports, with two Intel® Thunderbolt™ slots for charging, one audio jack and only one USB-A (USB 3.2 Gen 1). For people who use auxiliary tools such as mouse or mechanical keyboard, that’s simply not enough ports.
The main advantage of this unit is its size, which makes it easier to carry around. However, even though it is compact, its charger is not (like almost ALL laptop chargers in the market right, to be honest). You still might want to bring it around in a bag with enough space to accommodate its bulk.
Price starts at Php79,995. To learn more about the Yoga Slim 7i Pro’s features, visit Lenovo’s website. Aside from physical stores, it is also available on Lenovo’s flagship store at Lazada and Shopee.
