Jay Park in talks to establish a new label for idol groups with Kakao Ent.

This article could most probably be summarized by this Tweet.

Jokes aside, former CEO of AOMG and H1GHER MUSIC Jay Park was reported to be preparing to launch a brand-new label for K-Pop idol groups by local news Sports Chosun.

This news comes after it was announced that the American rapper will be stepping down from his position as CEO in the labels he founded. He will, however, remain as adviser to both labels (AOMG and H1GHER MUSIC).

Industry insiders have said that South Korean entertainment agency Kakao Entertainment will be investing a large amount to aid Park’s establishment. The agency responded to reports saying that “Jay Park is an artist with talent in various fields as a singer and producer…” and that “nothing has been decided yet” as they are still undergoing talks with the artist.

Known as a prominent figure in hip-hop, R&B, and other fields, Jay Park is expected to bring a “new wave to the music industry by producing idols in his own style”. The “Mommae” singer first rose to prominence as a member of K-Pop group 2PM under JYP Entertainment in 2008.

He then left the group in September 2009 and later on established himself as a B-boy crew member, producer, solo artist, and founder of independent hip-hop labels AOMG and H1GHER MUSIC. Jay Park is famously known for his songs “Mommae”, “All I Wanna Do”, “Me Like Yuh”, “All the Way Up”, and “Sexy 4 Eva”.

Fans of Jay Park were elated to find out about the artist’s future activities, and at the thought of having an idol group under his tutelage. Some were also on the fence about it, considering how “problematic” he could be.

Seeing how successful he’s become, it’s no doubt that Jay Park will once again make wonders with his newest label. Congratulations in advance, Jay Park!
