AESPA star in their own sci-fi movie for latest single ‘Savage’

Nævis, we love u!

SM Entertainment’s rising girl group AESPA stun the K-Pop scene with their most badass music video yet—“Savage”, which dropped on October 5, 2021 at 6 P.M. KST. Their science fiction-like music video follows AESPA and their ae’s story in their own universe, this time, they’ve received the help of “Nævis” and head out for “KWANGYA” to defeat the villain “Black Mamba”.

“Savage”, the title of AESPA’s first ever mini album, marks the return of the 8-piece group (4 idols and their respective avatars) 6 months after their popular and critically acclaimed single “Next Level”, and a continuation of their story beginning from their debut single “Black Mamba”. The EP consists of six tracks including the lead single of the same name. One of the songs, “Lucid Dream”, was found by fans to have Hayley Kiyoko as one of its composers.

As described by Soompi, “Savage” is a trap genre track filled with a dynamic drum beat and bass line, composed by Kirsten Collins, Jia Lih, Yoo Young Jin, and Hautboi Rich. The lyrics, penned by Yoo Young Jin, talk about AESPA’s connection with Nævis and their preparation to face the “Black Mamba”.

Ever since their debut, AESPA has been considered to be a powerful girl group in the K-Pop world—thanks to their “next level” concept (*ahem* Episode 1 of the SMCU). Their music has also been critically acclaimed by music critics and have debuted on the Billboard Global 200 chart and the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart.

And their teaser photos every time they have a comeback? Insane. Only SM Entertainment can do this quality.

MYs around the world showered their love over AESPA’s latest release all over on Twitter, and for good reason. Concept? Amazing. Music video? Top tier. Vocals and rap? They’re at the top of their game.

Yup, just AESPA making the most of all of their budget.

Anyway, catch their top-class music video for “Savage” here.
