The De La Salle Model United Nations (DLSMUN) welcomed the year with its seventh installment of the conference in spite of the quarantine and distance learning setup. This year, the 7th DLSMUN, with the theme “Utilizing Multidisciplinary Mediums Towards Global Cooperation in the Post-pandemic Society,” pioneered their virtual and international conference with over 300 delegates expected to attend the virtual conference on May 8 and 9, 2021, and almost a hundred partners and sponsors supporting the whole event.
“As the Secretary-General of the 7th DLSMUN, I wanted to ensure that the MUN Community could find more ways to stay active despite the pandemic. MUN has always been a platform for growth, knowledge, and development, and I wanted to take advantage of the online setting to bring this platform to youth leaders around the world,” 7th DLSMUN Secretary-General Francesca Castro said, highlighting how their team would like to raise the bar of the Philippine MUN community.
Deputy Secretary-General Audrey Garin said that they aim to become more inclusive and accessible to everyone. Reaching and connecting to as many people as we can help them educate and raise awareness in these challenging times where being informed is one of the integral aspects to survive.
Other than this, the 7th DLSMUN has been hosting its first-ever Panel Discussion Series called Train of Thoughts: A Journey to Global Cooperation Under the Post-pandemic Society from March 20 to April 30, 2021, every 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Renowned professionals from different organizations and agencies are invited to become panelists.
This panel discussion series aims to not only educate its delegates as they prepare for the conference, but also the general public. It has been the goal of this year’s DLSMUN Secretariat to make DLSMUN accessible and educational for all, especially for those who cannot afford to pay to become a delegate (who have been experiencing the exclusive benefits of Model United Nations Conference ever since). This panel discussion series is free to watch on their Facebook page.
