Who knew that a song from Disney’s “Frozen” would trend again in the Philippines, all because of a teacher keeping herself busy during the pandemic?
Cebuana teacher Danieca Arreglado Goc-ong has become an unexpected internet sensation, thanks to her out-of-tune tutorials of popular songs. She goes by @danvibes_official on TikTok and has over 97,000 followers. However, she has gotten more mileage after amused viewers reposted her videos on other platforms like Twitter.
She first got attention for her video in January of “Part of Your World” from “The Little Mermaid.” With a whiteboard, she pretends to teach a class how to sing. Despite singing off-key, her enthusiasm to teach shines and she has racked up over 400,000 views on TikTok alone.

Out of the World man HAHHAHA
However, there is no doubt that her runaway hit is her rendition of “Do You Wanna Build a Snowman?” from “Frozen,” posted last March 2.

It has over 800,000 views on TikTok as of writing, and her pronunciation of “Elsa?” — a.k.a. the O.R. or opening remarks of the song — became a trending topic on Twitter recently. Netizens, such as one @SexbombGurl, posted references to her “O.R.”

So, who is Teacher Dan? She is an actual teacher, she told “Sakto” in Teleradyo last Friday, March 5. She not only teaches MAPEH — music, arts, physical education and health — she also teaches AP (araling panlipunan or social studies), values education and Filipino.
Her journey to becoming a content creator came about after not being able to teach during the pandemic. She said she was a private school teacher for three years, up until her contract ended.
“Gusto kong i-add on iyong skills ko sa teaching kaya ayon; gusto ko din magbigay ng good vibes,” she explained.
(I wanted to add to my teaching skills so that’s why [I made the videos]; I also want to spread good vibes.)
The videos are spontaneous — everything is done in one take. So commands like “volumatic” and “jump your voice” are all phrases that come out impromptu as she films.
Her videos have even inspired some to take notes and share it with their “classmates” on Twitter.

Going viral is not something that ever occurred to her.
“Di ko po talaga inaasahan na magtetrend iyong ganung style ko,” she said on the program. “I don’t have any idea na talagang papatok siya sa mga tao. Ewan ko ba kung talagang natutuwa sila sa piyok ko… maraming nagtitweet eh. Di ko alam kung matutuwa ako, charot!”
(I did not expect that my style [of teaching] would trend. I had no idea that it would become a hit with people. I don’t know if they are amused with my being out of tune… a lot of people tweet [about it]. I don’t know if I should be happy — just kidding!)
Teacher Dan shows us that you don’t always need a classroom to be a teacher. A whiteboard, camera, the internet and lots of passion can take you far, even without a perfect pitch. JB
