Kenneth Cobonpue, a Filipino designer, has joined forces with Disney to create a selection of pieces inspired by cult characters from the original 1970s “Star Wars” films.
The collection consists of three armchairs, lamps and a foot stool, which were created with modern materials and technologies to emulate the universe of the franchise.
The Imperial Tie Fighter Wings armchair, which features handwoven polyethylene, is modeled after the symbol of the Galactic Empire’s fleet.
The Vader easy armchair includes an open weave canopy and a black cushioned seat that has been stitched to look like Darth Vader’s mask.
Another standout piece is the little Jedi hanging lamp, featuring several miniature figurines of Jedi knights holding lightsabers.
“We wanted to incorporate the essence of each Star Wars character into the designs, while staying true to our aesthetic and process of creating them by hand. We reimagined the Star Wars universe through the lens of the Filipino craftsman and creative,” said Cobonpue.
The “Star Wars” furniture collection is now available for the first time in the United States, at select retailers and showrooms across the U.S. RGA/JB
