In the now-viral tweet, Cortez wrote, “Yung kahit alam mong hindi siya kagwapuhan pero napapatawa ka pa rin niya… dito pa lang, panalo na [ako] eh! Labyu, mahal! (Even though you know he’s not handsome, but he manages to make you laugh.. just this alone, I still win! I love you, dear!)”

On the surface, Cortez’s post appears to be a sweet gesture towards her husband, making some of their fans feel ‘kilig.’ However, the post received mixed reactions, with some labeling it more as a backhanded compliment.

As expected, people on the internet poked fun at the whole situation.

There’s nothing wrong with expressing your love and appreciation for your partner online. However, it’s always a good idea to take a moment to reflect on your words before posting, just to ensure that your compliment comes across as genuine and not unintentionally backhanded.
