Influencer Jen Barangan apologizes following ‘concert etiquette’ issue

Filipino social media has been abuzz with the events and controversies stemming from Olivia Rodrigo’s concert last October 5, 2024. X threads about scalpers, and celebrities receiving preferential treatment, among others are the only things people are currently talking about.

Another thing that people were discussing on social media was the “self-recording with 0.5 and flash epidemic,” where concertgoers called out several people that were disrupting people’s concert experience by blocking their views with the flashlights from their phones.

One of these people that were called out was lifestyle vlogger Jen Barangan, whose video clips were circulating on TikTok, X, and Facebook. From the videos and screengrabs, it was seen that the lifestyle vlogger’s self-recording of her singing along to Olivia Rodrigo was visibly upsetting the people around her.

People on the social media began calling her out for her “main character syndrome,” and telling her off for her lack of concert etiquette.

The next day, on October 8, 2024, Jen Barangan posted her apology on her official social media accounts.

Her post reads, “To everyone, I’m so sorry for my actions. Best, Jen.”

Her supporters immediately flocked to her comments section to send their messages of support to the Cebuana vlogger.

While it doesn’t sound like a sincere apology for some, guess it’s enough that she owed up to the wrongdoing she did…even if she didn’t state what they were…?

Good for her.
