Thai BL couple ‘BKPP’ to star in a remake of Taiwanese film, set for release in 2025

New movie alert–and a good one for BL fans!

Thai BL couple Putthipong Assaratanakul, known as Billkin, and Krit Amnuaydechkorn, known as PP, will star in their first film ever entitled ‘The Red Envelope’ (ซองแดงแต่งผี), a movie adaptation of Taiwan’s ‘Marry My Dead Body,’  an LGBTQ+ story about romance, culture, and acceptance.

The production firm announced on Facebook that “The Red Envelope” is a brand-new comedy film and marks Billkin and PP’s first on-screen partnership, with GDH obtaining the rights from Calendar Studios.

The original ‘Marry My Dead Body’ was an international hit that originated in Taiwan and was quite successful because of its distinctive fusion of humor and spooky themes that won over audiences worldwide.

Tong-Banjong Pisanthanakun, acclaimed for his work on Thailand’s highest-grossing horror-comedy Pee Mak, will produce the adaptation, which will be brought to life by a fantastic production crew.

Moo-Chayanop Boonprakob, who directed the famous romantic comedy Friend Zone, also directs the picture. Moo is known for telling relevant and captivating storylines, so it should be another unforgettable cinematic experience.

“The Red Envelope” will reimagine the original “Marry My Dead Body” with a distinctly Thai flair, delivering plenty of local humor and cultural themes. Nonetheless, the story details are still being kept under wraps for the meantime.

As the release date approaches, the anticipation for ‘The Red Envelope’ is growing among fans of Billkin and PP. Their chemistry on the big screen is a highly anticipated aspect of this project, and the film’s release in 2025 is eagerly awaited.

Billkin and PP’s on-screen chemistry in “I Told Sunset About You” and its sequel “I Promised You the Moon” in 2021 was a massive hit, making them one of Thailand’s most beloved on-screen duos. These series were not only loved by the local audience but also gained international recognition, setting the stage for their future success.

Recently, Billkin rose to fame for his movie ‘How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies,’ released in April by GDH as well. This film not only became a massive box-office success, grossing over $34 million worldwide, but it also holds the title of the highest-grossing Thai film of 2024 and the eleventh-highest-grossing domestic film ever. It’s a moment of pride for all as the film also broke box office records in several Asian countries.
