The University of the Philippines Industrial Engineering Club (UP IE Club) is set to open applications for new members on August 26 (Monday), as the University begins the academic year.
From New First Year Industrial Engineering students in UP Diliman who have yet to learn the ropes of college life, or college seniors who want to expand their horizons, the university-wide organization welcomes all UP Diliman students regardless of their degree program.
Interested students are encouraged to RSVP and attend the Applicants Orientation on September 13, 2024 (Friday), 6:00 PM, to be held in the P&G Room, 5F, of Melchor Hall in UP Diliman.
To the organization, #LeadYourLegacy means to actively shape and influence the lasting impact one has on the world, and intentionally creating a positive and enduring mark through actions, values, and contributions. UP IE Club has been a longstanding legacy-builder in its communities, with a 56-year tradition of committed efficiency and effectiveness in all its endeavors. Its cascade of projects and initiatives are executed through a framework they call
the “IE Way”, which is a belief that the way to solving problems can always be continuously improved through IE concepts such as systems and design thinking, data analysis, and project management.
This methodology paved the way for UP IE Club to be a community pioneer, earning two Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) for Best Featured Project for their flagship projects “IEAid” and “UPCAMP”. IEAid, which was TAYO-awarded in 2017, is the organization’s consulting arm consisting of excellent industrial engineering students offering free IE consultancy services to charitable organizations to help them in their internal processes. This project has been trusted by organizations such as the Philippine Red Cross, Super Tsuper, and CARE PH. On the other hand, the UP College Admissions Mastery Program (UPCAMP), awarded in 2003, is the trailblazing college entrance exams review program offered freely by the organization to public senior high school students in Quezon City.
The organization’s excellence is also shown through its flagship event, the Industrial Engineering Expo, which is an annual convention where IE students all over the country gather to showcase industrial engineering and its various fields. Its other community development programs, such as Tulong Eskwela, which is an educational development program with a chosen beneficiary school, and UPLIFT, which aims for holistic empowerment of the College of Engineering staff through value-adding initiatives, have been recognized for their real-world impact as well.
Aside from projects that show the organization’s dedication to public service, the organization is also prominent in the student space, being one of the biggest organizations on campus. Its brands GET UP and Good Karma have been a staple in Isko OOTDs: especially the timeless, GET UP drifit shirt. UP IE Club is also widely known in the university for its domination of the annually held Engineering Week, having won 31 out of 35 championship titles.
UP IE Club believes that anyone, regardless of background or chosen career path, can lead their legacy the IE Way. Students who want to be a part of campaigns that pioneer change with intention, excellence, and social responsibility may visit the UP IE Club Facebook page to get updates on their ongoing activities, social campaigns, and application process.
Make the first step in taking your space and shaping your mark. Iskolar ng Bayan, it’s time to #LeadYourLegacy!
This event is made possible by UP IE Club.
