Happy Best Friends Day! Things to do to celebrate strong and enduring friendship

In good times and bad times, so goes Dionne Warwick’s song about friendship. Someone who would be there for you when the going gets tough. But what makes a best friend out of a friend?

A best friend is someone who is not necessarily always there for you at all times, but makes his or her presence felt in matters of life and death. They are the people who always have your back and will show support through thick and thin. As we observe Best Friends Day, we listed different ways and activities you and your buddy can do to celebrate your strong and enduring bond.

1. Movie Date

Do you and your best friends have a comfort movie? Whether you want to stay at home or go out, you can enjoy a good time with your best friends by picking a good film that interests both of you.

If you want to have a movie marathon at home, you can stream the movie “20th Century Girl” or the TV show “FRIENDS,” which are both about friendships.

2. Coffee Date

If you and your best friend are coffee lovers, a coffee date is a no-brainer as your way to celebrate! You can go to your favorite coffee shop or explore newly opened cafes. You’ll never know, you might discover your new favorite spot!

3. Paint together

Whether you are an artist or not, you can try your hands on painting. Art is one of the ways to destress and express your emotions. Apart from using it as an outlet for your inner thoughts and feelings, you and your best friends will have something to bring home to commemorate this day!

4. Baking

Another way to bond this day is by baking together! You can have fun through the whole process. From buying the ingredients, preparing your baking tools, cooking, and eating the sweet goodies you prepared together, you and your best friend will surely learn something from each other.

5. Museum Date

If you feel like going out to celebrate, you can visit museums near your area. The national museums in Manila are now open to the public, so you can explore the rich culture and tradition of the Philippines by looking through artifacts, paintings, sculptures, and new exhibits.

6. Play a sport

Do you play sports? Even if you are not good at it, playing a chosen sport with your best friends is also an excellent way to celebrate this special day. Badminton, volleyball, and basketball are some accessible sports you can do. You can go to a nearby court or open area in your neighborhood to play!

Having best friends is a blessing on its own. Having people who are close to you and have your back whenever you need it is a lovely relationship. This Best Friend’s Day, you can show your love and appreciation to them. You can celebrate in your own way as long as you are having a great time enjoying each other’s company. –Joanne Melegrito, INQUIRER.net trainee
